Collage Prints FAQ

posted this on February 10, 2014, 1:35 PM

Q: What is a collage print?

Collage prints are a large photo print on paper, metal or canvas that is composed of several smaller photos arranged in a visually pleasing manner. E.g. A dozen photos of your family forming a mosaic on a poster-sized print.

Q: Are your collage prints comprised from separate photos?

No. This isn’t a scrapbook collage where several photos are cut and glued onto a single sheet. You create a digital collage from your photos using our easy-to-use editor and print them on a single sheet of professional photographic paper.

Q: How do I make a collage?

Making collage prints is easy. AdoramaPix offers a large library of collage templates to choose from. Just choose your favorite template and drag and drop your favorite photos into the placeholders provided. You’ll have a personalized photo collage in under a minute!

Q: Are your collage prints archival?

Yes. All of our paper collage prints are made on premium quality archival photo paper and come in a variety of different finishes, which include: glossy, matte, luster and metallic. Our papers are specifically designed to be fade resistant and will keep your images looking bright and beautiful for generations. Our canvas and metal prints are also made using archival quality pigments.

Q: Can I add text to my collage?

Yes. We offer a number of templates with placeholders for text provided. You can personalize the text by double-clicking on the placeholder and typing in whatever words you would like.

Q: Can I rearrange my photos?

Yes. You can easily change your photo arrangement by dropping a different photo into any of the placeholders, or by selecting two photos and clicking on the swap function to exchange them.

Q: Can I change the layouts?

Although you can’t alter the layouts at this time, we have a huge library of layout designs to choose from and we add new ones regularly. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, let us know and we’ll add it to our list.

Hi Chava. As collage prints are a new feature, we have introduced it with the most popular sizes. As time goes on, we will expand the available options.

I understand that it is a single sheet, but do you make adjustments on per picture basis or no? (This is a general question that also applies to photobooks, etc. where it is not clear to me how AdoramaPix makes their adjustments).

If you choose color correction and you upload the images individually (e.g. drag and drop multiple photos into different placeholders), then they are corrected individually. If however you build a page/spread with multiple photos in photoshop or some other external tool and upload the finished page/spread with multiple photos on it as a single image, then we correct the page/spread as a whole.

Eric what Al said apply only to photobooks collages but if you do a collage it will be corrected as a whole page.

The collage print is a great option, but I did not see where it was saved. I only had the option to put it in my cart and view it from there. Did I miss setting up the project and saving it somewhere?

Chris, of the three icons in the center of the screen when you click on a picture, the bottom one lets you re-compose your picture.

Just singed in with this website and already leaving it... I needed to make 3 collage prints 8x12' with 2 photos on each (basic layout) in matte finish. It's difficult to find anywhere in this size and finish. So i am all happy made one and... oops! the collage is not going to my shopping cart, i guess the button "add to shopping cart" is not working. Anyways, I've spent all morning trying to figure out what I did wrong, nothing, by the way. I tried to go and make a "project", but then it doesn't give the option to create a collage. So, seriously, it's a stupid situation and i spent too much time for nothing. Oh, and the "online chat" is offline of course, and answers an hour later with a question "are you logged in? we can't see your project." First of all there is no project since there are no options for my collages, second, I have nothing else to do as to sit and wait when they reply with more questions instead of solutions. Not happy! Regret i spent too much time! Leaving!

I'm not sure what happened with your collage, but I can help you diagnose the issue of why your shopping cart isn't working. You are correct that collages don't save a project at this point. I'm discussing with the developers whether this is  an option.

After creating 3 collage prints and adding them to my cart, I decided that I wanted to change the type of paper that I am using, but I can't figure out how to do this without starting over.  Is it possible?

Also, for folks who don't see what they want in terms of layout, there is an option to create your own layout.  This is especially useful for me, since I don't crop to normal print sizes.

Sure Susan. You will have to remove them from your cart and re-add them, but you shouldn't have to start them from scratch.

  • Just go to the Collages page.
  • Instead of clicking on the green button, click underneath where it says VIEW MY COLLAGES
  • You should see your completed collages there
  • Open your collage
  • Click on the tab on the left marked DESIGN & OPTIONS and select the paper type you want
  • Re-add it to your shopping cart.

Hope this helps.AL
