Heads up everyone, AdoramaPix has two holiday closures coming up!

We will be closed:

  • September 29th and 30th (2 days)
  • October 13th to the 22nd (10 days)

We often have a surge of orders just before a holiday, so please place your orders a little early to make sure they get shipped out before the closure.

AdoramaPix Book of the Month Contest (October 2011)

Earlier this year we held our first ever photo book contest. We were so delighted by all the amazing books created by members of our community that we decided we wanted to see more. For this reason we created the AdoramaPix Photo Book of the Month contest.

At the start of each month our judges pick their favorite submission from the previous month’s entries. The creator of the chosen submission receives a $150 credit towards any AdoramaPix print products and their winning entry will be featured as an embedded book in our contest winners announcement. See last month's winner.

For self-promotional purposes, winners will also be provided with an award logo  they can display on their website, blog or social media page which links to the contest winner announcement. This is a great way to let your friends and clients know that your work has been recognized and received critical acclaim.

Contest rules:

  • You can enter the same book more than once, but a book can only win once.
  • Entries should be posted to the Photo Book Showcase forum.
  • Each entry should be accompanied by an email to events@adoramapix.combefore the contest cutoff. The email must contain:
    • Your name
    • An email address at which we can contact you
    • A Link to your website or online bio (optional)
    • A short description of the book.
    • A link to your shared book
    • The embed code for your book
  • Cutoff for entries is Midnight EST on the last day of each month.
  • Winners for the previous month will be announced within 5 business days of the start of the following month. Statutory or Jewish holidays do not qualify as business days.
  • While we acknowledge that boudoir and nude photography are valid artistic genres of photography, we request that customers please refrain from submitting books containing nudity or partial-nudity as we cannot display those books on our public forums.

In March we will start offering live webinars/workshops so that you can learn how to take your photo books to the next level. We will have:

  • Introductory webinars that cover basic workflow and show you how to get started with PixPublisher.
  • Intermediate level webinars that cover more advanced features and assume attendees already know the basics.
  • Free-form webinars at varying levels of expertise which are like extended Question and Answer sections where users can ask questions and be shown the answers in real time.
  • Workshops tailored towards certain types of photo books and focusing on techniques unique to that type of book. E.g. Wedding Books, Portfolios, etc.

The question I have for all of you is:

#1 When is a convenient time to attend a webinar/workshop?

  • Business hours during the day? e.g. 1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern
  • Early weekday evenings ? e.g. 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern
  • Weekends? e.g. Mid-day on Sunday 1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern
  • Some other time altogether?

P.S. Duration of the webinars is targeted to be roughly 1 hour.

#2 What sorts of webinars would you like to see?

  • This is helpful for us to gauge interest and set our schedule accordingly.

Please respond with comments to this thread. Thanks!
